Frequently Asked Questions

Make sure the computer's power cord is plugged in firmly. If you are using a power strip, make sure it is completely plugged into the wall socket and that the power switch on the strip is turned on. If it still won't turn on, disconnect it and hold the power button for about 5 seconds. Reconnect the pc, and try again. If all else fails, bring it in to our store for a closer look.
A common vector for infection is accepting unknown prompts. If something requires a certain plug-in to be installed, make sure to verify what that plug-in actually is.
Other routes include:
  • downloading infected software
  • opening email attachments
  • inserting or connecting an infected disk, disc, or drive
  • visiting unknown links
  • outdated software
  • Most devices require a reboot every now and then. Go ahead and reboot the PC. If it continues to act slow after the reboot, there could be a host of other issues such as but not limited to:
    • background programs
    • too many temp files
    • not enough hard drive space
    • a corrupted hard drive
    • infection
    • hardware conflicts
    • outdated drivers
    • memory
    • overheating.
    Check to see that you are connected to the internet. Make sure that the email server you are using is not encountering any issues (contact your internet service provider or network administrator). Make sure that your email program is properly configured. We can help make sure that it is. Bring in your PC for a more in depth look if it is not configured.
    Most technology life spans are dependent on several factors (environment, use, damage, etc.). Hard drives typically last about 4 years.

    Warranty Information

    All computers (except OEM CPUs, and refurbished items) come with a warranty against manufacturer defect or failure for a period of one year from the date of purchase. This warranty covers replacement of the item or product with the same product or like product as determined by the customer when direct replacement is unavailable. Computers systems are covered by ALVA COMPUTERS for one year. Only software and hardware installed by ALVA COMPUTERS is covered, no other software is covered for support nor assistance.
    Seller reserves the right to charge Buyer a minimum of 15% restocking fee on all returned or exchanged products. No refunds are allowed on any OEM CPU or any opened Motherboard. Defective products will only be exchanged for like items. Non defective items will only be exchanged for a maximum of 15 days from the date of original purchase to Buyer. After 15 days from date of purchase, Seller reserves the right to honor product warranty by repair or replacement or referral to the Manufacturer. All return shipping costs for defective or non-defective items are solely the responsibility of the Buyer. Value for all refunds & exchanges will not exceed the current selling price for like item. All shipping charges are non-refundable in any circumstance.
    Manufacturers often offer additional warranty for the following products: hard drives, retail boxed CPUs, and monitors. Customers should contact the perspective manufacturer after warranty with ALVA COMPUTES expires. Customers may also pay ALVA COMPUTERS a service fee ($15 per item) plus shipping to have such warranty work completed through ALVA COMPUTERS.
    Lifetime warranty is given to all memory. This warranty is for replacement of like items only. Lifetime warranty does not cover items out of production if ALVA COMPUTERS no longer stocks them. (Lifetime is defined as the lifetime of the product on the market. Outdated technology is not covered by lifetime warranty if the item is no longer available on the common market as a new product.)
    Software is not returnable or exchangeable once opened or activated, or if the serial number or registration number has been removed. Opened software includes, but is not limited to, removing the shrink wrap from the software or opening the seal on the envelope. Or activation of software
    Certain parts may come with extended Manufacturer's Warranty. The equipment manufacturer honors this warranty and ALVA COMPUTERS assumes no responsibility in honoring this warranty. Special orders are non-refundable including but not limited to: LCD Screens, Laptops, Custom Built PC's
    Warranty is not granted if a product is received without original invoice. Warranty is void if serial tags, receiving numbers, product stickers, or manufacturer seals have been removed, altered or tampered with. Warranty is void if mishandling, improper use, or defacing of the product that would normally void manufacturer's warranty has occurred. Notes: (ALVA COMPUTERS) is not responsible for any damage to other parts or personal or property injury as a result of using any of our products or as a result of defective products. For instance, we are not responsible for damages to a motherboard if or when a power supply is defective. You may contact the manufacturer for any recourse. (2) By placing an order with ALVA COMPUTERS, you indicate that you have read this policy and agree with it. (3) There is no way for us to test all products before selling it.
    Items covered by this policy (those products for which Alva Computers, LLC states "This item may be returned for a replacement or refund within 30 days only") must be returned to Alva Computers, LLC within 30 days of the invoice date for this policy to apply. “Return” constitutes receipt of the product by Alva Computers, LLC , and not the mere issuance of an RMA. The following conditions are not acceptable for return, and will result in the merchandise being returned to you: Return for refund within: 30 days (must be unopened) Return for replacement within: 30 days Any desktop PC, notebook or tablet PC that has been opened Any desktop PC, notebook or tablet PC that is free from defects in materials or workmanship Any desktop PC, notebook or tablet PC that has physical damage due to abuse or improper use Any desktop PC, notebook or tablet PC that is missing any accessories or packaging including, but not limited to, AC adapter, battery, pack, manuals, carrying case (if any) A defective Desktop PC, Notebook, or Tablet PC that is returned for a replacement may be repaired or replaced in Alva Computers, LLC sole discretion, unless otherwise required by law. While we strive to adhere to our own standard RMA processing times, we cannot guarantee that these times will be met, especially in situations where the item must be sent to the manufacturer for repair. If you have a question regarding returning a Desktop PC, Notebook, or Tablet PC, please contact us for further assistance. Some computer systems will require pre-authorization from the manufacturer technical support in order for an RMA to Alva Computers, LLC to be authorized. You should be certain in your decision to purchase a Desktop PC/Notebook/Tablet PC and must agree to this policy before completing your order. By ordering a computer with us, you indicate your agreement to this policy.
